Precision Boilers has been very fortunate in the last few years to develop strong partnerships with electric utilities. We did this because the utilities have done numerous things to benefit our customers.
For many facilities, the ability to choose between electric and gas power for boiler operation has been a smart move. With the fluctuations in energy prices, the ability to choose lets the facility take advantage of energy values when they occur.
What many people don't realize is that values can occur daily. And that's where the utilities have been a big help to many boiler users. The utilities have offered many hospitals, schools, manufacturing plants, and others ways to take advantage of off-peak power operation. Our products, like the HVJ Electrode Boiler and Thermal Storage Systems, provide the ability to operate during times when power rates are at their lowest. There are many facilities who have saved hundreds of thousands of dollars with this strategy.
And in some cases, the utilities themselves have helped foot the bill for the equipment.
Now, everyone understands that the utility has a vested interest in this--if you have electric boiler equipment, they sell more electricity. But the economics prove themselves time after time: When you look at the discounts in equipment and power, many installations have paid for themselves in less than two years.
That's a good return. And when you have both electric and gas options at your fingertips, you're much better prepared no matter which way energy prices may fluctuate.
